Salty puff pastry Christmas tree

This recipe for a puff pastry Christmas tree is something I make every year at Christmas time. It's a joyful way to combine decorations and food and is guaranteed to steal the show. The salty croissant flavor combined with the spices and crispy puff pastry makes it irresistible. Trust me, once you try it, you'll want to make it again and again.

Directions

40 min.
1. Step

To bake the salty puff pastry Christmas tree, start by preheating the oven to 200 degrees. This is the ideal temperature range for the puff pastry to puff up and bake until crispy.

2. Step

Roll out a piece of puff pastry and shape it into a Christmas tree. If you have difficulty with shaping, you can use templates that you can find online.

3. Step

Sprinkle the Italian seasoning, salt and pepper evenly over the dough. I recommend using your hands to distribute the spices evenly.

4. Step

Place the second piece of dough on top and press down lightly. Then cut the dough around the shape of the fir tree and remove the excess.

5. Step

Using a sharp knife, cut strips on both sides of the fir tree, about 2 cm wide, to represent the branches. Make sure to leave the \stem\ piece in the middle intact. Then twist the \branches\ to give them a twisted shape.

6. Step

Beat the egg and brush the dough with it. This gives the Christmas tree a beautiful shine after baking.

7. Step

Finally, sprinkle the grated Parmesan over the dough.

8. Step

Bake the Christmas tree in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed up. Check frequently in the last few minutes of baking to make sure it doesn't burn.

9. Step

This savory puff pastry Christmas tree is a wonderful way to start or end a festive meal. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
