Apple pear jam

In my family we have always attached great importance to homemade jam. A very special recipe that I prepare every year in autumn is the apple-pear jam. It's a simple recipe, but it thrives on the quality of the sweet and tart fruit. For this I prefer to use apples and pears from our own garden.

Directions

1. Step

To make apple-pear jam yourself, first start by weighing and preparing the fruit. I recommend using ripe and aromatic fruits for this recipe. The taste of the jam depends primarily on the quality of apples and pears.

2. Step

After you have washed the apples and pears, remove the core and cut the fruit into small cubes. This step is quite important, because smaller pieces ensure that the jam later has a nice consistency.

3. Step

Now mix the chopped fruit in a large pot with the preserving sugar (2:1), the lemon juice and the pulp of the vanilla bean. A good tip is to also add the scraped vanilla bean to the pot for even more flavor.

4. Step

Bring the fruit to a boil with the sugar after stirring briefly. The jam should boil for at least 4 minutes, stirring constantly. I prefer a slightly longer cooking time here, as this gives the jam a better gelling ability.

5. Step

After cooking, you should remove the vanilla bean from the pot and fill the apple-pear jam into sterilized jars while it is still hot. Make sure the jars are filled to the brim before sealing tightly. The best homemade breakfast spread !

Coconut Panna Cotta

Are you surprised to see such a fancy dessert? Don’t be! Christina Lane made this one dairy-free and naturally sweetened so that she doesn’t feel badly about eating it for breakfast. And she tops it with fruit soaked in honey just because it tastes good. (Honey is acidic and it breaks down the fruit while it rests.) Lane used figs because summer was in full swing when she perfected this recipe, but mango and raspberries are great here too.
